Doesn't matter if they did. The election leaflet highlighted independence for England. The ballot slip included 'independence for England' next to the party name, leaving do doubt as to what I represented.

This of course being the policy that's far less popular than an English Parliament, according to the opinion polls.

Not when you're comparing one little known party with another one.
It is about the core issue - English Parliament or English independence.

The EDP, when given the opportunity to become pro-independence, declined, because they thought it was a less popular issue.
