Is this an example of objective Irish investigative reporting? If so, it is inadequate!

This, as posted, is anonymous and gives a heavily biassed one sided account. Biassed because the author is anti-English, and biassed because only O'Connor's self-justifying excuses are reported!

What on earth has the Little Irelander "Irish Times" to say about England's situation which is kindly or helpfully intended?

Quote:
"The bad publicity he is referring to is an attempted ‘hatchet’ job on his character in an English national newspaper but . . ." [You can't damage a reputation which has already been discredited!]

“Politics is about personality and personality is about being a brand,” He tells me, [Who is 'me'?] “Despite standing down I guess people were voting for me and not the party.[Evidence of a massive ego.] It just shows what you could do with a credible campaign. I didn’t want to resign from the election but I had made it clear from day one to the party I was standing for, that my acceptance was conditional on there being a realistic marketing budget in place and that I would be allowed to run my own campaign.” [Spoken like a truly autocratic and dictatorial father who might well be denied access to children by reason of the damage he could cause.]

In the end he says the party was a shambles, promised funds evaporated, a telesales fund-raising campaign never materialised, the party he says was probably insolvent having borrowed tens of thousands of pounds and his plans for St George’s Day were sidelined. Worst still he tells me that he discovered early on that the ‘party’ didn’t even exist in London and consisted of just a handful of individuals who spent most of the time arguing. In time honoured O’Connor style, he stuck to his word and told them ‘to stick it.’ [Since you've chosen to post this in the FEP section, perhaps its leader could explain how the vigorous party organisation he apparently created, evaporated in the space of a few weeks?]

Despite offering to help them manage the situation following his resignation, he was labelled a ‘traitor’, his Irish surname became a target of abuse from senior party leaders and his fiancée started receiving anonymous calls from a woman saying she was six-months pregnant with O’Connor’s baby. [Should we be surprised that O'Connor provokes this kind of reaction?]

Englishness he tells me is a paradox, an intangible that can’t be easily defined except through the national character and collective history. It’s clear that he has an expert grasp of the issues and once he explains his position, it all makes perfect sense. “What is vitally important is that people have a right to self-determination. It happened in Ireland and now it needs to happen in Scotland and England. The political aristocracy should yield to the demands of the people and let them have their say.” [This alone demonstrates O'Connor's incomprehension.]
This is a pathetic reaction to O'Connor's dishonourable conduct! If F4J have any wisdom, they'll distance themselves from this clown as soon as possible, otherwise they'll achieve very little more for unjustly treated fathers.

The question also needs to be addressed about the qualities of those who seek to capitalise on others' misfortunes?
