I have just heard that the leading ED, Steve Gash, has today resigned from the EDs. More of a pity is that he has also resigned from the CEP.
Activist politics for English nationalists is a hard and demanding struggle. There is no money in it - indeed most of us give money to the cause. But I really think that there is hope, and that while England has suffered such great damage, she will revive. It is ironic that we English nationalists are at present pinning some of our hopes on Mr Salmond to kill the Union, but there is a gathering sense of national identity among the English.

It is a disgrace that England is the only part of the UK which has not been allowed to have a Constitutional referendum of her own (the EEC 'staying in/leaving' referendum of 1975 was, of course, a pan-UK vote). If England is not given her own Parliament within the Union of the UK support for the Union within England will fall further. |

Its sad that steve gash has gone Andrew do you know his reasons.I just wonder if its the election results and the fact that the English nationalist movement at present is split from top to bottom.with no sense of leadership or direction.

I suggested that he should, but he said that was the main reason why he quit!
A strange irony, when he believes in independence for England. But that is the conundrum which is the EDP. An organisation where the majority of its members are pro-independence, but all it takes is a handful of individuals with a counter-argument and their resolve crumbles. What is to become of the English Democrats in the North East?
Last year the regional chairman resigned, then the Durham chairman and finally the Northumberland chairman. But fortunately, Steve Gash came into the breech to become the chairman for the North East and Cumbria. Who is going to come forward now to lead those poor souls out of the wilderness? |
