Blame the voting system we use.

Our First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system favours the three main parties. (Who wants to waste their vote on a fringe party!)

Maybe it's because, like true cowards, they brag about how much they hate the EU to the pollsters and the media but when push comes to shove, in the General Election, they vote for the pro-EU parties with the enthusiasm of a true federast.
If we used Proportional Representation (PR) in this country, then the results for a General Election would be very different.

I believe it would also increase voter turnout. (Only 61.4% of us bothered to vote at the last General Election).
