Default EU treaty delay proposal defeated

BBC NEWS | Politics | EU treaty delay proposal defeated
Quote:

The government has defeated a last ditch attempt to delay the ratification of the EU Treaty for four months.
Conservative peers had pressed for the ratification process to be postponed until the response of EU leaders to the Irish referendum "No" vote was clear.
But the move by Tory foreign affairs spokesman Lord Howell of Guildford was defeated by 277 votes to 184.
The bill to ratify the treaty is expected to complete its Parliamentary passage later on Wednesday.
During the debate four protesters were removed from the Lords public gallery after voicing their demands for a referendum.
'Respect for the Irish'
A woman was taken away shouting: "It's a democracy." She was followed by three more protesters, at intervals, demanding a referendum.
Earlier, Gordon Brown dismissed a call by Conservative leader David Cameron to declare the Lisbon Treaty "dead" after the Irish rejection of it.
The prime minister said he respected the Irish people's referendum vote, but the Irish government had asked for more time to discuss what to do in the wake of its outcome.
"Just as we have respect for the Irish, we should have respect for the other countries that are processing the treaty and ratifying the treaty as well," he said. "And perhaps we should also have respect for this House, which has also voted for ratification of the treaty."

This was not mentioned on the BBC web site - I watched the Parliament Channel - still no mention. I think that means that the LT is now effectively ratified.

I have a strong suspicion that news management is in progress. Focusing on the cost of living and the BofE response to inflation has dominated the MSM. Was this by accident or design?
