Amazing today, PMQs Cameron and Browne spaing on EU issue - irish no vote. Browne in emotion said The Conservatives refuse to acknowledge whether they support a post ratification referendum. And as Cameron said a Post Ratification referendum on what??? The irish voted no.
Not that it wasn't obvious enough, but if anybody wanted it in black and white there it is. |

I happened to watch that today. Couldn't believe what I was hearing.
Brown accused the Tories of wanting to quit the EU, which according to him, would cost 3 million British jobs... ![]() |

If for a business to operate it needs either parts or transport or skills it will quite simply go to where can provide these at the cheapest rate wile it can provide these services efficiently (or to put it another theres no point in going for the cheapest price if the company can not deliver). If we are out of the EU these companies will continue to shop at the same places. Just to push the point I'm making we will not tell china we will not buy from them because they're not in the EU. So it makes me wounder, could it be their are 3 million public sector jobs in this country pushing through EU legislation. I know that sounds a high figure. Does any one have any idea. |

Gordon Brown said that not ratifying the treaty would cost UK 3 million jobs. To be more precise it would probably cost 3 million plus ONE, although we think the former figure is an exaggeration.
Does the PM really expect us to believe that trade between UK and other EU countries would instantly stop if the treaty were scrapped? Last edited by Procopius; 18-06-2008 at 08:07 PM. |

When Brown says that most of our exports are to the EU, he forgets that as we are in the EU, so when a company in Wales sells anything to a company in England, that is exporting to the EU, same for Scotland. In other words, most of our trade is within these Islands.
