Default Irish Prime Minister Cowen "facing EU nightmare" writes newspaper

“Cowen facing EU nightmare” – the title of a report in today’s Irish Independent newspaper about the europhile Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen who wanted a Yes vote in this week’s referendum in his country on the EU Constitution Lisbon ‘Treaty’ (but who got the opposite ):

I am keen on the idea in the Independent.ie report, that Libertas could become a party and stand in the Euro-elections in 2009 - I'm sure they would get a large percentage if they did.

I realise that they would be EU-reformists rather than anti-EU, but any opposition to the way things are heading at the moment is commendable. Could boost the Ind/Dem group, too (handy if Corby et al. decide they are going to get draconian).
