I was Googling this very subject earlier today. My ferverent hope is that Ireland does vote 'NO'! That of course, remains to be seen!

Here are some more links:

EurActiv.com - Irish 'yes’ to Lisbon Treaty 'not certain' | EU - European Information on EU Treaty & Institutions

Battle over neutrality clouds Irish EU poll — EUbusiness.com - business, legal and financial news and information from the European Union

Get ready for a hard year, says gloomy Taoiseach - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

The last one is a goody! The comment quoted below is by no means atypical of many of the comments left. It seems there is widespread anger at Irish politicians voting themselves a big pay increase. Strange that!

Quote:
Bertie will have no hard years ahead, a parasite that sacrificed all political principle for his pocket + the fascism of an equally barmy EU.
So with unpopular politicians, a rapidly deflating property bubble, and an economy in trouble and unemployment rising I see a tough time ahead for those campaigning for a 'Yes' to Lisbon. Shame!

Of course an Irish 'No' would almost certainly require that the Irish vote again to give the 'correct' result. But, deliciously, it could potentially reopen the UK referendum debate as a live issue in the next GE!

Summer time, when people are most positive. Combined with a major EU funded campaign I am sure.

I don't hold out much hope.

Default Fraud in the Irish election?

That should be Referendum, but the delete button in this software doesn't work.

Anti EU groups in Eire have done house to house polls and consistently get an anti EU vote of over 85% for the referendum, just as we do in Parish Polls.

But the government is saying its neck and neck. This would prepare the media for massive vote rigging - they won't be surprised if the result is a small majority for the EU.

The history of the leader of the Eire anti-EU campaign, and his actions, make him look like a classic plant - that is how the EU works, it takes over the anti-EU campaign by sliding its own people in at the top with EU money, and they frustrate the anti-EU campaign top-down.

The Irish need to run their campaign bottom up, which is difficult, and to organise exit polls.

How do they know - do they conduct the opinion polls? Or are you in fact saying that opinion polls not conducted by the government show that it is neck and neck and that the Irish government are merely stating the results of those polls?

I'm sure I should know the name of the anti-Lisbon treaty leader you have in mind but I don't, I would appreciate you naming him, thanks.

David, was the 2001 Irish referendum rigged?
