Default Sunday papers: 6-2 favour referendum

The BBc said this on their website:

"The British Sunday papers are divided in their reactions to the agreement reached on the EU constitution".

They listed 8 newspapers.

In fact it was 6 to 2 in favour of a referendum:

Against: Observer, Mirror

For: Sunday Telegraph, Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday, Express, News of the World, Independent on Sunday

What about 'The People', the 'Daily Star Sunday' & 'The Sunday Sport'? Did they have nothing to say on the subject?

Like it or not a lot of people read those 'newspapers' so it is very relevant what if any view they have on the new constitution.

I'm sorry, they carry news? I thought they just contained celebrity gossip and smut?

Mostly but not totally. As I usually agree with you I am saddened that you appear to disregard the opinion (if present) of those newspapers.

If there were to be a referendum on the new constitution the readers of those newspapers will be key to whether we win or lose. So the editorial position of those papers are all very important to the future of our nation.

Britannist has some supporters
Default Daily Mirror, Independent, Sun, EU

The Daily Mirror and its sister newspaper the Independent are pro-EU and only print stories favourable to the EU (or else they ignore the subject altogether). I think they should report the negative side of the EU (i.e. the truth) to their readers.

The circulation of the Daily Mirror continues to fall.

The Daily Mirror is far more pro-Labour than the Sun was pro-Conservative (in the days when the Sun used to back the Conservatives).
