Default EU says Territorial Army man can't serve and do day job

From Kent News on 5.2.2007:

”A member of the Territorial Army has been told he cannot serve his country and keep his day job under new European working regulations.

UK Independence Party MEP Nigel Farage said the situation would be “laughable if it wasn’t so serious”.

Slowly stripping the armed forces, little by little, until we are defenseless, then here come the EU! Protecting us, and all they want is our souls.

Isn't this yet another example where these blasted Jonny foreigners are not only telling us their way is best, when they don't understand the problem, but are changing yet again, our way of managing things that works for us - I do wish they would take their confounded interferring noses and put them where the sun no longer shines

They are determined to wipe away our way of life and everything British

If the government wants to give members of the TA exemptions from the working regulations then they can, there is nothing in the EU legislation against this. It seems to be a very common story to blame local management issues or the actions of the government in its application of EU legislation on the legislation itself - usually with a headline such as "EU forces ambulance workers to take break while man dies". This is the government's responsibility not the European Commission's.

Our government should not be sending the TA on foreign expeditions anyway.
