Default Letter in the Times

EU constitution
From Sir Richard Johnstone

Sir, Europe’s politicians and commentators appear to disagree widely about the impact of the EU constitution, with opinions ranging from a simple “tidying-up” exercise to a blueprint for a United States of Europe.

However, a consensus seems to be emerging that a “no” vote in France would be a problem for the constitution; a “no” vote in the UK would be a problem for the UK.

That’s all I need to know.

Yours faithfully,
RICHARD JOHNSTONE

It's a bit too obtuse, that one. It's not clear whether he'd vote Yes or No in the referendum. :?

A lesson there for letter writers; make it obvious what you're saying, no matter how cleverly you say it.
