Default Merkel to help Sarkozy in the battle for the French Presidency

I seem to have read this somewhere, is this true?
Could Merkel and Sarkozy have formed such a strong bond within the EU, they are taking it one step further.
If he fails to win the French votes, then were will it leave Merkel, would the German people follow her?
If it is true, then the EU is becoming more apart from the countries that they know, democracy is what the people want not what they want to predict.
I happen to see Merkel as a strong leader on her own, taking advice from all, and that is what it should be, to start to favour leaders is out of the question, you need to listen to the people.
Without the people you can be leaders, but only leaders of a dream, a dream exists within your mind, not what is really happening.

If you think about the close relationship between Thatcher and Regan, they did not openly campaign for one another, in the same way that when Thatcher was challenged by Heseltine George Bush Snr when asked about it made it clear whilst he admired Lady Thatcher it was a matter for the Tory Party.

If frau Merkel is daft enough to do it then she will find it very difficult to work with a president other than Sarkozy if he loses.

It is not for governments to express opinions on who should win democratic elections in other coutrys, you work with who is elected.

My thoughts too, I don't think she is daft, I think she is concerned about the eurozone, all to often you can in these circumstances be thrown into the wrong direction, thinking it out straight and discussing it with others, if correct, she may change her stance.

In the absence of a link that would give some legitimacy to the allegations I don't see that their is anything to suggest she'd openly come out in support of Sarkozy and I very much doubt she'd be that politically naive.

How ever with out Sarkozy, Merkel will be quite alone. I do tend to see the two of them as the only thing that holds the EU together.

Which is why I hope Sarkozy loses the election .. just one big backer of the EU to be voted out might just be enough to start unravelling this grand Folly. And I hope Merkel is next.

I honestly would love to his smirk wiped off his place, of course we have seen a change of Government in Spain recently following Elections and in Italy and Greece we have seen governments effectively appointed by who france and Germany demanded to see appointed. If Sarkozy loses many will cheer but his successor will be constained into following the same economic policys, so people can now democratically removes their leaders/governments but it is truly only symbolic.

The UMP and CDU are sister parties, so it would be odd if Merket wasn't backing Sarkozy.
The Socialist candidate Hollande also wants the ECB to be a lender of last resort, like the Bank of England, which does not go down well with the Rhineland monetarist bankers.

Such help will not be very good. If we think about Spain, Italy, Greek, Portugal... everyone presidents have lost the elections or have been replaced directly.
Sarkozy will lost the elections, in all probability
