That’s been absolutely dubious that precious "Eastern partnership" project! Well the idea was actually voiced and that is to upgrade economies of post-communist countries to fit EU perfectly. In reality that turned to be just demolishing of the Soviet economic heritage which was rather good ensuring employment and other things you know....
What now? I can judge by my personal business experience on post -soviet space. Say in the Ukraine our huge effort to push "EP" project resulted in increased unemployment, which in its turn provoked strong anti-integration sentiment there. I heard many Ukrainians blaming Brussels in an attempt to get "new vassals" just.
In a nutshell due to that "EP" project we now face classical spongers staying highly critical and suspicious of Brussels! And that comes rather costly for European taxpayers on top of that! Imho our pols have become too captivated with that integration idea relying on some evidently doomed to failure project.
