What do you mean so much for consumer choice? It is freedom of choice that I am advocating.

The human race has no right to say what is invested in and what is used for energy. It is up to the people that own those assets and those intellects.

There has never existed a natural monopoly over communications.

Sure there is. No country/government in their right mind is going to allow every company who want in on the telecommunications market to lay their own cables. Hence since there is only one system of cables, it's a 'natural' monopoly.
There is no threat of Earth becoming uninhabitable.

No government in its right mind would stop anyone laying a cable for whatever reason they see fit. Unless you thought Marx was in his right mind, that is.
