Default Bookers Notebook 4.5.08

Another well researched article by "Le God" Christopher Booker.

Watch the web for climate change truths - Telegraph

I particularly love the last paragraph -

quote

In view of what is now at stake, such quasi-religious incantations masquerading as science are something we can no longer afford. We should get back to proper science before it is too late.

A perfect summary!

Is Booker, the hack, qualified to say what proper science is?

At least as well qualified as Al Gore.

Thank you for making my point more eloquently than I.

This strikes me as somewhat ironic...

he and his researchers are qualified enough to research what others say and then are in a position to make a qualified judgement on the evidence.
I would like to say that I feel the term "hack" is a bit offensive would you have been so derogatory had it been someone supporting AGW ?

He probably would not have been, but the point still stands.

Journalists have a reputation for playing to the public, in this case, this journalist is playing to you, in order to get you to click on his website and bring him money ergo this journalist has a vested interest in being negative towards AGW.

Of course, whatever their stance.
I wonder why you think I would treat them differently?

I wrote the following letter to the telegraph last Friday:-

Quote:
Sir,
I’m glad to see Charles Clover has published a clarification for his ‘Global Warming will stop for 10 years’ headline ( DT, Wednesday).

Regrettably, it hasn’t stopped the Global Warming ‘deniers’ triumphantly proclaiming ‘we told you so’ on the websites where they don’t actually read details.

I expect in a week or two, it will have been ‘Chinese-whispered’ enough for Christopher Booker to claim again that Global Warming is an EU conspiracy.

The key facts about this scientific study are, firstly it was concerning the Northern hemisphere & mostly Europe, secondly the research was based on ‘surface ocean temperatures, & thirdly it is basically a simple computer model.

A fundamental objection GW deniers have is to the Climate Change modelling process – but they’ll believe a model when it suits them.

There was a poll of climate scientists in the USA recently about reliability of Climate Change news reported in the media. Only 1% of responding scientists believed television news of Climate Change was very reliable. With respect to USA national newspapers, only 11% said it was very reliable but a further 56% said it was somewhat reliable. Draw your own conclusions what some weblogs think of the Telegraph’s headline.

Yours faithfully,
They haven't published it -I wonder why ?
