Brief extract from the Times article on the link given in the last posting to this thread:
"We should not be surprised when global-warming policy officers and climate-change academics rush to declare that the evidence for pending disaster is “overwhelming”. These people have, after all, to justify their job titles; the industry of which they are part is worth billions of pounds a year....My real problem with the eco-alarmists is the pleasure they take in austerity; their evident desire to strip away pleasure. They really do want to see us imprisoned in a narrow, grey, scratchy world of recycled car tyres and hemp lingerie (and no, I didn't make that up). Hence their gleefulness in the economic downturn, because it will mean that people are poorer, and will be forced to do things their way." |

Melanie Reid - author of the article on the link given in the first posting to this thread - also pointed out that botanist David Bellamy has said that Scotland has just had its most extensive and deepest snow cover for ten years thus extending the ski season there and that there has been no global warming for a decade.
The "eco-thought police" were not pleased that Professor Bellamy had pointed this out, Miss Reid noted in her interesting article. On Newsnight earlier this month, an anti-global warming scientist agreed with the view of Lord Lawson (a guest on the same programme) who had also said that there has been no global warming since 1998. Which media corporation can make you - by law - pay it in order for you to get the right to watch the BBC?
The compulsory television licence fee - whereby we have to pay the BBC to get the right to watch ITV (or other independent channels) - is a ridiculous, indeed authoritarian, system. |
