Not to the same extent is it? Lorries aren`t making the rail network shut down overnight.
All traffic on the roads can impede the other traffic. Cars impede cars more than lorries do , by the fact there are more of them. If you wanted to guarantee that you would get home at night after 12, which mode of transport would you rely on-- public or your own car ? |

Transport companies will certianly use the road more than the average car user,it being their business. You would notice if they didn`t. You wouldnotice, for the better, if many other people didn`t use their cars.
And if you missed the last train home before midnight.....? |
