Default Cold kills 1,300 in Afghanistan

RIA Novosti - World - Cold kills 1,300 in Afghanistan

Quote:
KABUL, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - Around 1,300 people have died as freezing weather continues to cause havoc in Afghanistan with heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures hitting 17 of the country's 34 provinces, local authorities said Wednesday. This winter is the coldest in the last 30 years in war-torn Afghanistan, with temperatures reaching lows of -30 degrees Centigrade (-22 Fahrenheit). Some northern regions have been without food and medical supplies for over two months
Damn this global warming, damn it to hell!

Freezing in Iraq | Twin Cities Daily Planet | Minneapolis - St. Paul#

Quote:
We are experiencing a very harsh winter in Najaf – the coldest in many years. A few days ago, my sister Salima called and said, “Sami, please, if you have some extra kerosene, we need it because we are freezing from cold.” She ran out of kerosene because her family is big, about 15 people, and they had three kerosene heaters going at home. Salima has kids working in Dubai, so their financial situation isn’t as desperate as many Iraqi families, who live below the poverty line. But kerosene is expensive and hard to get.
I'm sure these guys are right behind the fight to get the planet to cool down.

Icicle diaries from the Yukon Ultra - Olympics - Telegraph

Quote:
The Yukon Ultra in Canada this month was the coldest official running race ever recorded. Unsurprisingly the field of athletes in different races of 26, 100 and 300 miles was decimated in the Arctic wilderness. Charlie Norton was one of the lucky ones…
We can get it colder acording to Al Gore. Just a load of tax and fascism is required.

BBC NEWS | World | Asia-Pacific | Holy row over land in Vietnam

Quote:
But there is one particular row that is currently making the headlines - pitting the government against the country's strong Catholic Church, and now the Buddhist community as well.
For the whole of January, thousands of Catholics gathered outside the building that served as the Vatican ambassador's residence in Hanoi during the 1950s. Braving the coldest winter for 40 years, they held vigils and prayers in one of the most visible gatherings in decades.
With Al Gore, the average temperature in Vietnam could be a steady 19.

Mercy Corps > Countries > Tajikistan > Help Families Braving Extreme Cold in Tajikistan&

Quote:
Families in some of Tajikistan's most remote areas are braving food, fuel and water shortages triggered by record cold temperatures in the Central Asian nation. Mercy Corps is working with its humanitarian-agency partners to help vulnerable families stay fed and warm during the country's deep freeze.
Another victim of global warming.

If my 11 year old daughter presented nonsense like this in support of one of her homework projects, she would get a serious lecture from me & her (non-political) mum....

But she is well educated, even at her age she would laugh at this drivel.

The Harlan Tribune - Arctic air moves into Shelby County

Quote:
February in Shelby County is one of the coldest on record so far, and although there hasn't been a lot of snow (more to the east), the ground has been blanketed with the white stuff since November.
Temperatures on Thursday morning were again expected to dip near zero before a slight warming trend. This weekend should see highs near 40 by Sunday before another weather system brings a chance of snow and colder weather Monday.
