The Earth is our home and in an indisputable sense the mother of us all. So it seems to me that the only basis you can have for environmental consern is to treat the planet as best as possible because you respect and value your planetary home so much for all it's given us, which is everything basically.
I have to say that i don't spend my life recycling plastic bags and living on twigs in the forest but thats hardly the point and it's wrong to suggest that responsibility rests on the householder to sort everything out. The point is everyone who has an impact must do better always do better or find other means to do things, it has to be the principle, that business and all environmental impacts must really be the best solutions and it should be law as well. Not economics or politics as the basis for solutions but the planetary condition and the wellbeing of ecological affairs including human affairs of course but not only. |

I can't understand this governments appalling record on alternative energy development and environmental concern and protection. They do the absolute minimum and get away with it.
The record of other developed countries in the world is often far better. For this reason alone the government aught to be thrown out for being unprincipled and not to be trusted. The planet is our home and it's not a fact which should cause us to do the minimum abouty it but rather we should have a large section of government permanently engaged in creating more environmentally sound industry, transport, housing, and their energy needs . If the current crop of useless politicians can't be trusted to do it then we should have proportional representation and make sure the greens get on with the job because they at least are genuine about their concerns. |

No thanks. Last thing we need is a bunch of envirofascists in power.

Hi Dave.
It's a contraction of "environmental" and "fascist". Cloud Cuckoo Land, as far as I can tell. Quote:
Yep. My first language is raging hot love. But only with the right supermodel, of course.

Its an oxymoron to call someone an envirofacist, lets have a sensible view since they have no power and have done nothing to restrict or damage your life, unless you really must eat whale meat, then there is no basis to call them facist of any description.
What is there to fear from the greens; restrictions on using plastic bags, restrictions on using cars which belch out obnoxious amounts of poisenous gases, better recycling policies, less wastage from packaging more protection for the flora and fauna of England, better designed and insulated housing,,,, ,,,,,,,etc. What a terrible fate for England that would be ![]() |

There you go - there's the fascist bit.
And that. I don't want a better insulated house. In fact, when I bought this new place the bloke selling it said something about putting more insulation in the loft to make the survey happy and I told him not to bother. See, you sit and watch Eastenders/Corrie/Bill like a moron and you're gonna need insulation. You sit next to a Marshall stack most of the time and the last thing you need is something to keep the heat in the room. Enter fascism - one size fits all.

I can't understand why the government hasn't invested more into alternative energy sources either. To not be tied to oil would literally be a breath of fresh air. We wouldn't be tied into all the trouble in the middle East as we wouldn't be reliant on the oil coming from there and our fuel could be a whole lot cheaper for starters.
