Many newspapers in the UK are owned, run and edited by the out-of-touch political 'elite' - some of whom hypocritically tell everyone else to cut back on road and air travel in the hope that it will free up space for them to pursue their energy-guzzling lifestyles.

What would some of these 'environmental reporters' on newspapers write about if they didn't have alleged global warming to go on about? I mean if they had little to write about, they might lose their jobs and accompanying salaries.

We can cut carbon emissions without the global warming alarmists making a big song and dance about it.

Of course and there is no need for the high tax solutions that are suggested, of course paying higher taxes makes one more depndant on the state so i suppose that again benefits the elite.

Exactly. As former Conservative Minister Michael Portillo said on 'This week' on BBC 1 Television several weeks ago - Honda's decision to develop a low-energy low-carbon emitting car will do more to cut carbon emissions than light bulb bans or any other 'green' measures around the world proposed by any Government.

You speak with great common sense on this subject, it is a relief after having to read so much Europhile propaganda posted on here, I was in danger of breaking out in Hives this morning.

Thank you for your support, RJT.

If the global warming alarmists posting here really cared about the environment and cutting carbon emissions they would simply turn off their computers - thus reducing electricity consumption and cutting the amount of carbon-emitting coal burnt in power stations.

It would, of course, mean that this Environmental section of the forum would not get so clogged up with one issue (i.e. alleged global warming). There are many other environmental issues.

I fear regretably that there may be more to come.

I've never understood this "higher taxes" stance on MMGW that you and others have proffered.
If I cut my electricity consumption I pay less tax. My current car uses about the third of the fuel that the Jag on the left did, so I pay less tax than I would had I still been running it.
If I were being more profligate in my use of fuel or electrical energy, I'd be paying more tax. By being thrifty, I'd pay less.

Perhaps you can show where my logic is flawed?

Why are you driving a car if you are concerned the planet is in danger, would your carbon footprint not be lower if you got a job nearer home and walked to work?

Why are you using electrcity, shouldnt your home be powered by alternate means of energy supply?

You risk killing us all, I hope you dont fly as well.

I was talking about current proposals for higher taxes, some are already in place such as reduction of local services at extra cost to the taxpayer, some I fully accept have not yet been implemented but will be unsless people start taking a stand against them. If that was not clear than I apoligise.

However from your own post it is clear you are guilty of hypocritical beahviour of the worst kind. Typical Europhile Behaviour I might add.

You see your friend Clippo criticises me for my christian beliefs, riddicules them in fact, but there is a big diffrence between me and you guys. When God speaks through Scripture I believe it and I practice it, when the Saints of the Enviromental movement speak you guys nod your heads sagely and then do the oppositie.
