Well now this is interesting.
Solar power has always been extremely expensive but it appears a breakthrough has been achieved in the manufacturing of solar cells to do with printing them directly onto aluminium sheets, much like a printing press, as I understand it. Coal is normally considered one of the cheapest ways to generate power and the plan behind the environmentalists is to save power and not to make it cheaply. This is why they hate nuclear power so much but as I say this development turns things on its head and so it will be interesting to see what the greens make of it. I know land is still an issue but suppose they did something like set up huge arrays in Africa and worked out a cheap way of sending that power elsewhere. Indeed people would agree to this as it would save them money on their fuel bills and they would not need to be brainwashed at school if their electricity bill was cheaper using renewable energy sources. This might not have been something factored into the globalists plans. No need for a UN carbon tax when everyone is enjoying cheap and plentiful amounts of energy without contributing to plant food emissions! Let me quote someone I just spotted on a thread I was on.

It looks like it is hot down Silicon Valley way. I bet the government loves them after Bali. They have lots of deserts in America and only 6% of their oil is domestically sourced.

We live in the hope that Al Gore and the other liars are well and truly f*cked now

I sincerely hope this company has indeed developed low cost solar energy generation to replace fossil fuels combustion.
I really can't see the logic of 'Nazis shooting it down, or Al Gore will be F****D. Surely, this technology is precisely what pro-AGW believers want. And by trumpeting it about, you sceptics are implying that you really believe in AGW. I was interested in BVL's link to the Stearn forum. Yes, they've been around a while (I've been watching their progress for several years now on the off chance of investing with them) - they've obviously got some really good technology up their sleeves, (haven't demonstrated it yet tho'), and apparently they've found a way around the first Law of Thermodynamics - a perpetual motion machine in effect. I know none of you like wikipedia when it says something that contradicts your preconceptions, but the write-up on Steorn is really good. btw - What's the connection between the first company/link & the second (Steorn)? They will be and something I picked up on this forum the other day speaks volumes for how stupid they are due to look.

Well Steorn copped out of a public demo so something fishy is going on with them but what is good is despite the forum having a lot of spam there are some good technical people on there, so it's turned into a bit of a chatter forum for scientists. They usually make far more sense than politicians and I respect the fact Americans still believe in high technology. So this chap just happened to turn up from Silicon Valley and hence we get it from the horse's mouth. You might like to contact him if you want more inside details of how the technology is progressing. The company who invented it already have 600 000 sq feet of manufacturing being set up and a very full order book.

I'm sorry Baron, I'm getting confused (ok all you prats make your silly comments) but:-
I have no problem with Nanosolar - it looks as though they've got something good and I do sincerely hope so. My problem is with Steorn. I thought this was an Irish company. Are you saying there is a connection between Nanosolar & Steorn? Or is it just that somebody from silicon valley happened to post on the Steorn site? (I really am not trying to pull a fast one on you, or trick you into corner. Steorn look like avery shady outfit & my investment comment was of course very very tongue-in cheek). Yes he just happened to turn up on the forum and is not likely to have anything to do with the company. Steorn no longer post on the forum and we used to get Sean Mc Cathy on it quite a bit but they look like they will not come up with the goods now and most people agree. However there is much science still progressing and it is a good forum with regard to investors and scientists communicating directly with each other rather than the obfuscation of the PR business acting as middleman.
