Default This is what they said about global cooling 1971-1994

A) "A new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery."

(International Wildlife, July 1975)

B) "The world's climatologists are agreed" that we "prepare for the next ice age."

(Science Digest, February 1973).

C) "The North Atlantic is cooling down about as fast as an ocean can cool..."

glaciers "...have begun to advance", and

"growing seasons in England and Scandinavia are getting shorter."

(The Christian Science Monitor, 27 August 1974).

D) "Many signs pointing to the possibility that the Earth may be heading for another ice age."

(New York Times, August 14 1975).

E) "... continued rapid cooling of the Earth..."

(Global Ecology, 1971).

F) "... the approach of a full-blown 10,000-year ice age..."

(Science, March 1 1975).

G) "The cooling has already killed thousands of people in poor nations.... If it continues, and no strong measures are taken to deal with it, the cooling will cause world famine, world chaos, and probably world war, and this could all come about by the year 2000".

(Lowe Ponte, The Cooling, 1976)

H) "The ice age cometh? Last week's big chill was a reminder that the Earth's climate can change at any time.... The last one [ice age] ended 10,000 years ago; the next one - for there will be a next one - could start tens of thousands of years from now. Or tens of years. Or it may have already started."

(Time Magazine, January 1994)

Perhaps the kind of co2 we put out then was less concentrated.

Nah, it wasn't green enough.

More of a shade of yellow.

Default Climate change religion

Tony - that's a most useful posting from you (first posting to this thread).

I wonder how the burgeoning global warming industry and the new religion of climate change theory supporters are going to explain the global warming currently taking place on Mars and several other planets. No doubt they'll say it's all our fault - because we won't follow their pet hobbies of wind turbines on chimneys and low energy light bulbs.

Or maybe less CO2 and more CFC?

Before you sceptics start patting each other on the back, I suggest you have a look at this :-

From said article:-
Quote:
Rather than confounding the climate consensus, mid-century cooling is actually a good test for the climate models, one they are passing quite convincingly.

Default Global warming on Mars

Never mind all that  - what's the cause of global warming on Mars andon a couple of other planets?

Presumably the same cause that is supposedly warming up the Earth.

Yet man (humans) cannot be blamed for global warming both here on Earth and on Mars.

No doubt the new Church of global warming theory followers is hard at work trying to make up some daft answer to this.

I was trying to add a comment about this very topic to add to my last post but was pipped by Brittanist's intervention. Perhaps you should have waited.

Default Sounding annoyed

You sound annoyed  .

I've just looked at the link you have kindly provided, Clippso. I have to comment that it has nothing on it to refute that fact that Mars and Earth are warming for probably the same reasons and due to the same cause.

But it would be presumption to say that they are.
