Default Environment

Just realised - this thread should really be in the Environment section of the forum. Maybe the moderator will be kind enough to move it there.

I think I'll give that a miss.

Default Sea is main alternative to flying to Australia

The route goes through one or two countries which might be described by the Foreign Office as 'problem areas'.

Going by sea might be a better alternative.

Although I noticed a report in one of the 'papers last week in which someone was claiming that ships emit too much carbon too.

These people really are becoming obsessed. I mean, even if it's true (which it probably isn't) there aren't that many ships anyway (compared to car and aircraft numbers).

I can only repeat - carbon emissions from aircraft account for 2% of worldwide global emissions of carbon (less than half the amount that the worldwide population of cows is responsible for).
