Default Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

So, I was lying in the bath and my thoughts drifted from the usual ones about Jessica Alba and beating commies up to the following snippet:

They've got the conservative (small c) folks afraid of muzzers due to the war on terror and all that.

They've got the lib (modern definition) folks afraid of the weather due to all the guff about global warming.

Interesting how these things sort of popped into the public consciousness at the same time, no?

Fear is a tool that has been used since the dawn of time to herd sheeple.

A real fear is best, but if there isn't one, then a made up one will do just fine.

Fear and war are great tools.

Keep the occasional bomb falling from the 'war' with Eurasia or was it Eastasia?, (though not too many to collapse the government) and the people are driven into support for an otherwise crooked regime through fear and distraction.
