Default Fall for those crappy recycle adverts?

That's what really happens with your recycling.

Go back tyo bed Britain, your government is saving the environment.

There is a good reason why they do this though. It is hugely cost inefficient to recyle and uses a load of energy from end to end.

We need to go back to reusing things and reverse the throw away culture, not this load of ****.

Oh and all this is initiated by the EU as usual. Hence the propaganda adverts you may have seen of late.

Two years ago when I was working for a haulage compnay getting my Class 1 LGV we'ed regurlarly go to scrap yards and pick up 20' boxes full of scrap to be taken out to China.
Had gone on for years before and still goes on
Best bit at one site was watching the box being filled - take it of the trailer hang it vertically and just tip scrap in it and gently move it up and down to settle contents.
Then when it was put back on the trailer you'd realise how heavy it was

No money in making things to last - TV's now considered consumables by manufacturers!

We have thousands of years of landfill left really, but if you want to believe the lie that we don't, then we don't have a huge amount of options left.

All I do know, is in 90% of the time, recycling does more harm than good.

Oh and by the way, shipping it off to poor countries to deal with is an option, but that's one for your own ethics. In the film, the people WANTED us to send our rubbish to them!

Yes they can recyle many things particularly whilst they are behind and labour is cheap - but we are addicted to shiny and new rather than having our existing products refitted - which is the sensible way of keeping up with the latest technology, without exhausting reserves of minerals and burning unnecessarily high amounts of fossil fuels.

The major problem is that in our consumerist state we have been encouraged by ever dropping prices and technology advances to buy new rather then repair and of course now because we live in a high tax/high labour cost economy the buy new trend is reinforced

What interests me is - what happens to all of the sterling which ends up in foriegn nationals' hands - either as a result of us buying goods made abroad or the profit made from assembling here in foriegn nationals' assembly plants?

Are vast quantities used simply to buy up Britain rather than to purchase British goods and services for abroad.

Of course it is. Foreigners are free to buy land in property in Britain.

I bet more Brits own Foreign property, land and shares in companies than most.
