I should have asked if it was "quite normal" for seawater to freeze over in the UK?

I have seen it happen. But, not often so it hasn't been the norm in my lifetime.

Same here, but, the last TWO days the seawater has frozen in the marina at Hartlepool, looking out at it, right now,it has started to freeze over again.(about 40m x 35m.)

The last two days the freeze has been about 3/4 times as much.

I have never known or heard of this before in this area or in the NE of the country.

(This seawater marina is not shallow,it is hosting the next Tall Ships event in 2010.Some largeish craft in here now.)

Winter arrived in Woking today. My ears were numb by the time I got in from delivering a few hundred BOO leaflets.

It was minus 2 this morning and right now its minus 4.

The weather forecasts usually show it a bit warmer all the time.

Default Elite talk of global warming as it freezes outside

Talk of global warming sounds increasingly ridiculous at this time.

A meteorologist was on BBC News 24 earlier, and was warning us that we'll be freezing our socks off come January/February.

Default Cold in January and February

I wrote somewhere on the forum last week that it will be particularly cold in January and February.

It always is  .
