Sorry John, the voodoo merchants don't buy it. Just because it has happened time and time and time again, thoughout the earths history, doesn't me it will happen again.
Indeed, now we are here, the earth is supposed to stay stable and any change that does happen, is 100% our fault. Only glorious politicians can save us and we must all bow down before the Gods of Al Gore and Maurice Strong and believe every word they say. Yes they may jet around all the time and live lifstyles that would make the Queen blush, but they are special messangers from the God of enviromentalism. Give up your freedoms. Accept higher taxation. Accept that Britain must pay 10 time what the rest of the world does for energy. If you don't believe, then you are a heretic. No an EEEEVIL heretic who must be stoned, then burned for not believing that we are the centre of the universe. Do that and the planet will reamain EXACTLY at the right temperature for baby seals and puppies to survive. You know it makes sense. It is the global consensus and is backed by INTERNATIONALY RESPECTED wonder magazines. |

John, Matt, What you are forgetting also is that man was around for each of these occassions, IE Man rose to the point where he had planes and other carbon making machines and screwed up the whole planet which then collapsed into an ice age.. and man disappeared, only to be reborn later
They clearly didn't have responsive intelligent caring politicians, like we have now, to put an end to this cycle of destruction.. Doh - I will go and sit down somewhere quietly now ![]() |

I don’t think anyone on either side of the GW debate, even Creationists, dispute that the either Polar ice-caps have waxed & waned throughout earth’s long history or will do so in the future. I’m beginning to think you can’t read also. There are many paragraphs in the article I could cut & paste but I’ll just do 2 :- Quote:

The point, Clippo, is that the Earth has been doing the same thing for millions of years.

The specific point we’re debating here is whether the recent climb in global temperature (I assume you agree it is getting warmer – a lot of nutters don’t think so), is influenced by mankind activities. (Again, primarily by the burning of fossil fuels). From the first part of your last sentence Quote:
So, I still cannot see how you can make the intellectual leap from your quoted link to your ‘man-made crock of s**t’ title. A headline worthy of the best of the red tops that is. Please cut & paste the specific sentences or paragraphs from the article that leads you to that conclusion. I’ve said so many times before, this intellectual argument raged 15-16 years ago and the majority of world opinion, (that includes world governments, the vast majority of world scientists and more especially those specialising in Climate Science and allied fields), concluded then, before the US congress or Senate that mankind’s activities were having an effect. Later studies reinforced those statements, from the internationally independent IPCC in 2001, that mankind was almost certainly to blame for most of the temperature rise. There are a few scientists who believe, as you do, that mankind isn’t responsible but many of those are openly in the pay of US oil interests and so whose opinions are weakened. So, all I can say to you, John, if you want to take on ‘world opinion' on this subject, be prepared to get severely shafted and made a fool of. With regards to your Quote:
