'Oh dear' was exactly the phrase that ran through my head when I read your post.

So Reed is not alone in believing this nonsense, then.

Never mind fruitcakes, total bloody lunatics would be a better description.

Ever wondered why people point at you and laugh?

Hardly a swarm of support for the idea. Didn't you get what you want for your tea or something?

Doubling global emissions would rise the global average temperature by only 0.1C! Link: http://www.junkscience.com

There can be no doubt that the earth is warming. But on a recent TV documentary i heard the amount out of 100%, the Human race has only contributed to this is by 0.0002%. This tells me that climate change is mostly a natural thing. Over millions of years the climate has continued to change due to the Earths changing orbits around the sun moving it closer, then further away. During the Jurassic periord the world was on average 4'c warmer than it is today. Needless to say the idea of renewable energy source must not be shunned upon. The human race cannot contine to use the amount of resources we do today in the long run, particually the rainforests which contain 40% of all life. So by having tidal barrages, nuclear power stations and solar panels to generate powerwe can keep a sustainable leash on the important resources we cant afford to lose, plus its cheaper for us the consumers.

I'm curious to know why you think renewable sources of energy are cheap? The last I read, they were unreliable, inefficient and damn expensive. Nuclear is the only sensible option.

I agree. We're lucky the nuclear scientists discovered a way of generating nuclear power. How do all these anti-nuclear people think we are going to fuel our power stations when coal/gas runs out - with firewood?

We've got 60 million people in these islands all needing electricity. Homes, motorways, car batteries, factories, offices, shops, public services, street lights - in fact, almost everything. Wind turbines which don't work most of the time are not going to come anywhere close to providing electricity for all the homes, shops and road lights up and down the land. Five billion or more people across this increasingly urbanised world need/use electriticy now and that figure will only grow.

Nuclear is the main way to meet world energy needs. Those people who invented and developed nuclear power in the last century probably did more than almost anyone else to save millions of lives around the world by providing a system which generates enough electricity day and night to heat the homes of the old in winter and keeps hospitals running around the globe.
