Bank's slur on English
Daily Star Sunday - December 14 2008 (Page 28)
A Bank refused to open an account with the word English in. claiming the term was racist. The Bexley branch of te English Democrats - who campaign for England to leave the EU - wanted to pen an HSBC account in Sidcup, Kent.
But Chairman Laurence Williams was astonished when a bank worker refused to process the application.
Mr Williams, 45, said "The word English is not racist and the English Democrats are not racist"
When the party's regional chairman Steve Uncles called HSBC's area manager to protest at the treatment he was told the bank stood by the decision because anything English was considered racist.
An HSBC spokesman said "We do not comment on individual cases"
================================================== =
Race Relations Questionaires have already been sent to HSBC and its staff.
In particular Ms Patel who halted the process in the first place.
I am not racist, but I am English. So what happens if your surname is ENGLISH, would you have to change it to be able to open an account?
I think you will have to ask HSBC
However, after the English Democrats have "finished" with HSBC, this will never happen again !
Maybe he's Mr Patel!!!
