A dead Matt O'Connor would result in the London Mayoral Election, having to be re-run.
Although Matt O'Connor has not been seen for several days, with the article in the Daily Mail he is now politically dead, but not too my knowledge actually dead. He joined the English Democrats in December 2007, with enthusiasm about the "English Cause". He jumped on the chance that there was an opportunity to stand as Mayoral Candidate. With hindsight, he obviosly viewed this as a chance to start his own political party off the back of the publicity. Unfortunately he viewed his own EGO as more important then the English Cause, the result is that he has now be publicly outed as a drunk, and he has shown a niave attitude to small party politics. The English Democrats is one of only 6 political partys able to put out a full slate of candidates in London along with 1 Conservative & Unionist 2 Anti-English Labour 3 Pro-EUssr Liberal Demcorats 4 UKIP 5 We are Green Party 6 English Democrats Out of these six parties the English Democrats is clearly the worst funded. His resignation was simply to try to sink the English Democrats - he has not suceeded.

It looks like Matt OConnors sole Intention was to try to discredit the EDP.If you look at what problems other parties have had with candidates personalities its just something to learn from.Matt OConnor is a very sad man who is just somebody who pulls stunts which have backfired on him and yes the EDP.But it looks like EDP are getting themselves dusted down to move forwards and get on with things. I hope in a more positive mode and dont ever again put posters and Images of what they have put out in this campaign. One question kentishman was it Oconnors idea the disgracful posters.???

I have to say that the posters where funny. It's a shame we lost O'conner, he had the right idea regarding marketing. But O'conner is now yesterdays news and tomorrow is going to be a very long day.

He is a sad and troubled person. EDP allowed him to join 4 months ago. I imagine that was because EDP saw his high profile as useful? ""He jumped on the chance that there was an opportunity to stand as Mayoral Candidate"" Really? Kentishman! You make it sound as if the EDP leaders had no choice in his selection. The truth is that after only a few weeks as a member of the party the EDP had him signed up as candidate. EDP jumped at the chance of HIM as their candidate. Did the EDP do any checks on him? How long had he been interested in 'English' politics? Did you actually interview him or was it just a nod through? I think that gloating over any addiction he may have is petty and despicable. I imagine that he will recover from his problems quicker that the EDP will. IMHO he deserves to! Any problems are of your own making. A bit like the Generals blaming the dead soldiers for a battle lost. A few falling on sword acts may be required by the weekend. Eh K'm? |

KM> I'm not surprised, although I personally find them no more offensive then that movie Braveheart.
Yes time will tell, one thing for sure is that Mr 'Connor has come out of this situation looking like a fool. Ea of dune |
