The proper question is ... how will the election results of the very new and much smaller pro-Independence Free England Party compare with the older and larger English Democrats Party (who while also in favour of an English Parliament, call for this within a reformed Union)?
I am looking to find answers to the following questions (although keep in mind that opinion polls are not always representative, and the population of only three candidates for FEP is very small) and we may have to read between the lines even then to get any answers: 1. How does the English Independence argument sound to the public at large compared to the ED's less radical and more wordy/complex policy platform? 2. How beneficial was it to the EDs candidates being part of a much longer established and larger party? 3. What sort of constituencies preferred either of our parties? Does anyone else wish to say what issues are of interest to them ... before the results? Finally, may I wish all the best of English luck to all English nationalist candidates (and where thay are not standing against us ...) to all UKIP candidates. Regards Andrew

Hello Andrew,
Im not sure on question 2. The benifits of standing for a larger party are no different to standing for a smaller party if you all believe in the same thing. Its not like someone standing for Labour against someone for LibDems. The FEPs and the EDPs more or less stand for the same thing, OK indepedance is different to just an English parliment but the message of getting England back as a country is the same. We BOTH fly the same flag, where the other main partys have different colours. I do not believe that people would 'buy' full independance but I would ask people to vote for you in a ward where only the main three players are standing. |

Dear Andrew
I fear your experiment will prove valueless. In the literature pushed out by the English Democrats during the London Election, is says nothing about a Federal UK. Also the English Democrats have had some media coverage both good and bad accross London. Free England has had virtually none. ================================================== ================== Where as a reasonable campaign comparison can be made between English Democrats v UKIP v BNP the Free England Party, can only measure against the National Front and Veritas Free England v Veritas v National Front ================================================== ================== I acknowledge your right to Campaign for English Independence, this is a just cause and good luck to you. But your implication that a Federal UK, would not be "a good step" towards English Independence is bizarre. Your further implication that of the 6% of English Nationalists who may well vote for an English Party "care" or even notice the difference between the Free England and English Democrats Parties. Have you actually knocked on any doors and spoken to random members of the public ? When you make posts like this the readers must feel that you are not Pro-English Independence, you are simply "Anti-English Democrats", I be gratefuly if you could educate us all on the beneifits of English Independence, this would be a much better use of your time.

This is a tricky one.Kentishman has made some excellent points. When people turn up at the polls kentishman quite rightly points out when they see the ballot paper and it has a party to vote for with the name and title England etc they dont worry about anything else they will cast there vote for EDP or FEP.Andrew it surely would of being better if you wanted to get out the Independence message. Being better to of obtained the English Independence party name of chris nickerson reformed there policies into being moderate and liberal and then got the message out loud and clear. and started to sell that because then when people go into the ballot area saw the ballot paper with the name the English Independence party on it they would know where you stood totally no fudges just a thought.

I totally agree.
If I had been in the same sitation as Andrew, I would have approached Chris Nickerson, joined up with him and then convinced him to get rid of all his policy of repatriation. Then relaunched the party.

Well Danny
Some votes are counted tomorrow evening I grant you, that, and for those in areas such as Yorkshire or Portsmouth the "fun" we have had in London will have little or no affect. But most will be counted in London on Friday. Yet again you have shown yourself to be clueless when it comes to politics Lots of opinion but no knowledge or action. Why don't you find another forum to haunt
