I agree that much of the flavour is familiar but, if you remember, my major grievance was not being permitted to give my side of the story in the relevant quarters. (Lack of appropriate openness was an accompanying and complicating factor.) To sound really pompous, I'm not prepared to compromise my principles even over someone as dubious as O'Connor!

Moreover, not to seem - with hindsight - to have wonderful vision, I did express early on reservations about O'Connor's adoption to one or two individuals whom I think always give me a sympathetic hearing. However, by the time I knew about it, the die was cast and, whatever my misgivings, there did seem the prospect of a high profile campaign which might benefit the English Democrats. Therefore, publicly expressing doubts about his background and, even more importantly, commitment to an English Parliament would only serve to undermine what might otherwise have been an effective campaign.

I hope I don't need to say that I am first and foremost a democratic English nationalist which, notwithstanding clashes with me personally and despite my disagreement with the FEP's stance, has not prevented me from publicly recording my hope that both the FEP and the EDP do well in the present local authority elections. In addition, my long standing opposition to the EU leads me to hope that UKIP also does well and increases its representation in the GLA.

Frankly, I don't really care what O'Connor says or what is floated on his behalf - even to bash the EDP - and I don't suppose you do! What I am interested to see is what impact, if discernible, he has had on the GLA elections. If, despite his withdrawal, his vote and that of other EDP candidates is higher than he believes it will be, he will be amongst the first to kick himself for acting so unreasonably and so dishonourably.

I remain optimistic about the EDP, the FEP and UKIP's performances!

What I find interesting is we are told in one thread that some £1000 was spent on the website and viral marketing, and yet in another thread i.e. this that some £2500 was requested for it, but £3000 set aside for this and another project?

A lot of work has gone on to decentalise the English Democrats party.

An example of where this works well is Portsmouth, where the Portsmouth Committee run their own show !

I worked hard to let Matt have "freedom" within the agreed budget.

This was agreed at £12,000 for the Campaign

(£38,000 of course has to go straight to the Goverment in deposits)

We ended up with a compromise where Matt had control of the PPB and the party kept control of the Election Address.

It has become clear now that Matt had an agenda to use the London Campaign to raise his profile to start his own English Nationalist party after the London Elections.

It appear that he asked at least 4 of the London Campaign Team to join him in his new party, including myself the weekend before he resigned.

Matt had been "out of circulation" for 4 days, and after St Georges Day he phoned me up to tell me that we had "done nothing" on St Georges Day.

I pointed out that we had :-

1 Attended a Demonstration Outside the British Parilament o St Georges Day

2 We had St George and the Dragon at the Demo

3 We had arranged for another St George to come into Parliament Square on Horse back

4 We had arranged for 160+ London Cabs to Fly the Cross of St George Flag and drive around Parliament Square

5 We had handed in a "Bill" to Ken Livingstone to £100,000 for his lack of support for St Georges Day.


I suggest to Matt that he spoke to Richard Castle his friend and Justice for Fathers Co-ordinator in London and standing for the Engilsh Democrats in Croydon & Sutton.

Matt dismissed this idea.

He said he was resigning anyway !!!!!!!!!!!

I had already told him the previous time that he treatened to resign that there was no mechanism to allow for this in an election.

It was one of the wierdest conversations I have ever had.

I spoke to Richard Castle and he suggest that Matt was often a bit wierd after coming out of a bender, and I should take no notice.

In the morning Matt O'Connor sent out an e-mail to a press list of one of our Dartford Members.

Labour is represented in Northern Ireland by the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) which gets a far lower share of the vote across Northern Ireland than does the Labour Party in Wales and Scotland (the SDLP is averaging 19% to 28% in elections). SDLP MPs in the House of Commons sit as part of the UK mainland Labour Party.

2. Labour candidates who are not members of the SDLP have stood in Northern Ireland. There is a Northern Irish Labour Party. The Labour Party won four seats in the Stormont (Northern Ireland) Elections of 1958 and 1962. They held one seat in 1973 in the Stormont Assembly and fought (but did not win) Belfast East in the 1982 Northern Ireland (Ulster) Assembly Election. The Labour Party of Northern Ireland remains active.

Let me reiterate: Labour (Lie-bour) get a lower share of the vote in England and Northern Ireland (pro-rata) than they do in Wales and Scotland. And this has been the case for decades.

Labour is an anti-English and anti-Ulsterfolk party.

The europhile Scottish so-called 'National' Party (SNP) are trying to damage the Union of the UK in Scotland and the Labour Party are harming it in England.
