In an article written on his blog on the Daily Telegraph website on 29.3.2008 - Mr. Andrew Constantine, a former leading member of the English Democrat Party and subsequent founder of the Free England Party (which wants England out of the UK and EU), gave his view of the English Democrat 2008 London Mayoral candidate Mr. Matthew O'Connor (who resigned earlier this week as the English Democrat London Mayoral candidate):

This O’Connor comes accross as a semi-lliterate and possibly dangerous moron. No wonder Constantine was put out when he was 'deselected' in favour of a man who has proved to be as unreliable as he is uncultured.

This Tilbrook is clearly a cretin of the first water. Who the hell is he anyway, and has he bought his position?

The ED Party will go nowhere until Tillcrook is kicked out and the party's anti-immigration line given a sharper edge.

Constantine was NEVER selected to become our candinate. As a member of the NC I can honestly say this.

Constantine assumed that he would become selected but at NO time was he ever selected by the NC.

Constantine threw his toys out of the pram when we went for someone else, resigned and then became the leader of the FEP

What I do find strange is that at our AGM last year, Constantine stood up in front of the conference and spoke aginst a motion for English independence. In fact I would go far as to say that he stated to all in the hall that he would never support a English party that advocated this type of policy. Now he flip flops more than Cameroon.

I feel really sorry for the good guys at FEP as they are being lead a merry dance by Constantine as he's only using them to get back at the ED's.

Andrew Constantine was never selected as the London Mayoral Candidate for the English Democrats

Andrew Constantine was however selected as No 1 on the London Party List.

Matt O'Connor turned up, Andrew Constantine did not.

Matt O'Connor was selected by a Majority Decision of the NC.

After you were asked by Robin to step down as London election campaign manager in the Autumn, the selection committee for the replacement for Garry consisted just of me, Leo Brookes and Robin Tilbrook. As all three of us were happy for me to step into the soon to be vacant position, then I was the de facto and de jure (but not disclosed) mayoral candidate.

The reason I decided not to turn up for the NC meeting in Leicester was due to my total disillusionment with the FEDs caused by some very poor behaviours by certain NC members.

David Lane who was close to me at the time seems to have occasional memory lapses nowadays, but in a moment of lucidity he might confirm the truth of my account.

All this is ancient history now, and I have better things to do than have to correct factual errors. But if we cannot agree on these recent facts, best not to go there.
