No? You seem to have adopted the Muslim creed of 'my enemy's enemy, is my friend'! That is a stance which has never seemed particularly principled to me.

Judging from Danny's posts, would you care to say exactly what you see him FOR? Are you sure you're not getting into bed with one of your dreaded 'Unionists'?

Going back to the Thread Title

Are the English Democrats Finished ?

My response to this is, that there has to be an English Nationalist Party in England, it is the only way of getting fairness within the Union (or indeed out of it)

Is the English Democrats the right model ? - Well only time will tell.

Matt O'Connor has done the Engilsh Democrats a favour as his last minute "land mine" has effectively disrupted the vote the English Democrats "would have got".

What ever vote is recieved now, the English Democrats will be able to "claim" a slightly bigger vote.

The event appears to have firmed the resolve of party members, rather then make them give up !

I admire your brave attempts to put a positive spin on this after your considerable online attempts to talk the EDs up, however I think you are very much mistaken.

Default English Democrats, UKIP, London Mayoral Election candidate

Following the resignation of their 2008 London Mayoral candidate it is now time for the English Democrats to back the UKIP 2008 London Mayoral Election candidate (as I explain in postings 1 and 5 to the following thread) or perhaps the English Democrats will consider supporting Mr. Andrew Constantine - 2008 London Mayoral candidate for the Free England Party?:

English Dems. should back UKIP London Mayor candidate & work with UKIP after election

Andrew - in view of the fact that the English Democrat Party (EDP) candidate has just resigned: have you asked if the English Democrat Party will announce that it will support your Mayoral candidacy?

I want to see your Free England Party, the English Democrats and UKIP work together as and where they can.

It is possible that the EDP - now it has now Mayoral candidate of its own - could recommend that electors vote for you in one of the two rounds of voting (i.e. first and second preference votes) for the London Mayoralty next Thursday.

London Mayoral Election 2008 candidates: Richard Barnbrook - British National Party, Gerard Batten - UK Independence Party, Siān Berry - Green Party, Alan Craig - Christian Peoples Alliance and Christian Party , Lindsey German - Left List, Boris Johnson - Conservative Party, Ken Livingstone - The Labour Party, Winston McKenzie - Independent, Matt O'Connor - English Democrats, Brian Paddick - Liberal Democrats.

Full details of the London Mayoral and Assembly candidates for the 1.5.2008 London Elections at:

London Elects - The candidates

and in posting number three at:

I don't have to hand the date for postal votes but as many have already been counted I presume they were already largely cast before this situation. I also doubt that the vast majority of the electorate had heard of O'Connor the ED candidate before he quit. More will have heard of him afterwards than before I suspect.
Independent UKIP is online now

Regarding the title of this thread which asks if the English Democrats "are finished?"

I can remember some people saying (after General Elections Labour lost) that that party "was finished." I advised those who made such remarks that Labour was not "finished" and that one day they would be the Government again. As (sadly) they are now (if you can call this shower in power a Government).

The English Democrats are not "finished" just because their London Mayoral candidate has resigned from their campaign. Many people quit the Labour Party in the early 1980s (including leading figures in that party) to join the europhile SDP. Labour survived that split and has now been back in power for a decade. The SDP, of course, has ceased to exist.

London Mayoral Election 2008 candidates: Richard Barnbrook - British National Party, Gerard Batten - UK Independence Party, Siān Berry - Green Party, Alan Craig - Christian Peoples Alliance and Christian Party , Lindsey German - Left List, Boris Johnson - Conservative Party, Ken Livingstone - The Labour Party, Winston McKenzie - Independent, Matt O'Connor - English Democrats, Brian Paddick - Liberal Democrats.

A couple of weeks ago i had a visit from the local UKIP co-ordinator who said that he would like to see Free England, the EDP, and UKIP all work together in our local area on certain issues, to which I have agreed to attend any meeting that will be arranged. I certainly think there is a lot to be gained from this approach.
