Mmmm, reading O'Conner's comments makes me think something isn't being told here. Surely he didn't expect some grand mega campaign from a tiny little outfit like the EDP?
Why does he think he was given such a roll, at the expense of long term campaigners like AC? The EDP though his ability to get attention, with little to no resource was a winner. To be be fair to the EDP, that certainly seemed to be the case for a while. They got a lot more media than they would normally! But now they have been "Killroyed" right at the worst time. This will make them a laughing stock amongst many and push them towards Veritas like credibility levels. While this is good news for UKIP and other small parties, it is a disaster for the English Parliament campaign. I suspect some heads will roll over this. A gamble was taken and the gamble backfired in a spectacular fashion.

It would have been if there was no chance to vote for a pure English Parliament candidate. However, if his name stays on the Ballot, then the EDP and other CEP people could turn it into the ultimate protest vote.

Those on the left complained the English Dems were racist and right-wing will now be agonising that their share of the vote will go to the BNP, who, according to YouGov are on 5%. However, I think the EDP's lost 1% will benefit UKIP and Boris.

In any case we are talking about very small numbers here, which may be another reason for O'Connor pulling out of the race. ![]() |

I'm much more interested in what Frank field MP will have to say about the English Parliament issue at tomorrow's CEP Conference than a London Tower Bridge ascending crank. There's no contest, really. |

Fair comment . . . unfortunately! Who will want to hear what O'Connor has to say about anything from now on? _ |

The media might, but then again, the EDP is probably low on their list of targets.
