Default The real Joanna Lumley -Why to stand up?

Most Englishmen - of a certain generation perhaps - would prefer the real Joanna Lumley to lie down...

Default Joanna Lumley, Greenwich-Lewisham, English Democrat, BAFTA

By coincidence (in view of her becoming a part of the subject of this new thread) Joanna Lumley (the Joanna Lumley who starred in 'The New Avengers' and not the one flying the English Democrat flag at Greenwich-Lewisham in next month's London Assembly Elections) was on the BAFTA awards programme shown on BBC 1 Television last night (she announced the winner of one of the award categories).

London Mayoral Election 2008 candidates: Richard Barnbrook - British National Party, Gerard Batten - UK Independence Party, Siân Berry - Green Party, Alan Craig - Christian Peoples Alliance and Christian Party , Lindsey German - Left List, Boris Johnson - Conservative Party, Ken Livingstone - The Labour Party, Winston McKenzie - Independent, Matt O'Connor - English Democrats, Brian Paddick - Liberal Democrats.

Full details of the London Mayoral and Assembly candidates for the 1.5.2008 London Elections at:

Does anyone else find it ironic that the English Democrats have selected a Spanish piano tuner here? No doubt part of the Rainbow Alliance of the Worlds Peoples who inhabit the geographical landspace of England and are then immediately English.

By the way Andrew Constantine is right about Joanna Lumley, a true English rose even though she was born in India!

No! It is much more ironic that some Scots (for example) and Pakistanis etc dump their carcasses in England for their own reasons, for their own personal advantage, and then proceed to inflict THEIR customs and practices, THEIR opinions on the English!

Being English is not a matter of colour or even place of birth, but more a matter of attitude! The most pernicious thing done by successive governments since 1976 is to give precedence to foreign cultures over and above that of the indigenous, established community.

I take care in taking a different view to you, Cassie, because I am such a poor loser! But I do not agree with that assertion. Does anyone else?

Regards, Andrew

Do these people expect to be treated seriously when they behave like this?

As for the 'real' Joanna Lumley I shouldn't think there's much left once she has removed her makeup.

I recommend you to keep that assertion closely associated with the idea expressed in the following: "The most pernicious thing done by successive governments since 1976 is to give precedence to foreign cultures over and above that of the indigenous, established community." which amplifies the subject of what is an acceptable attitude!

NAME GAME: The Real Joanna Lumley.

TODAY the Times reveals a candidate running in the Greater London Authority elections claims to be Joanna Lumley.

English Democrat Johanna Munilla, 38, is using the Absolutely Fabulous star's name in a ruse to get supporters to vote her to power in Greenwich and Lewisham.

Johanna Munilla, from Kennington, is listed on the GLA website and uses the former Avenger actress's name amongst others. She is expected to stand under the name Joanna Lumley when voting starts on May 1.
What happened?
Did a Writ land on somebody's desk?
