It needs also to be said - for the sake of balance - that there are far too many English born people occupying Parliamentary seats in England who do not properly represent the interests of their constituents, but put the interests of others first and foremost! Those 'traitors' should also be criticised! _ |

England has never had a referendum of her own ever (the EEC referendum in 1975 was, of course, a pan-UK vote). The other parts of the UK have all had at least one constitutional referendum of their own - and some more than one. The voice of England must be heard. England must have equality with Scotland in the Union of the UK. |

I feel we need all the pro-England support and euro-scepticism we can get, just in case...

I support an English parliament, but the type of English parliament I want to see is one which is the supreme governing body for England. I have heard many arguments in support of an English parliament based on the Scottish model. Scotland, with its population of circa 5 million is represented by 129 MSPs and 59 MPs, a total of 188. England has a population of ten times that of Scotland's. Now, can supporters of a federal UK please tell us if their proposed system of government is going to involve around 1880 MPs representing the English electorate at national and federal level. I am interested to know exactly how this devolved English parliament is going to work, and an approximation of the number of representatives involved.
With the recent stories about MPs expenses getting out of hand, it is going to be a tough job persuading the electorate to increase the number of MPs. If the argument is to have an English parliament based on the Scottish model, then would it be fair to say that we can expect an increase of MP head count by well over a thousand? Try and sell that to the voters!
