An anti-EU Scottish politician sitting for an English constituency is, of course, worth more to England than an English europhile such as the The Late Edward Heath who caused great damage to England and to the whole of the UK.
It is a matter of record [in Hansard I believe] that Eric Forth declared himself to be English [during the debate on Tereasa Gorman's 1998 Private Member's Bill for an English Parliament] and. judged by his actions, I accept that, despite his origins.

Your remarks about Grocer Heath are very apropos and give the other side of the coin, so to speak!

It's all a matter of attitude.

It is a great pity Mr. Forth is no longer with us. Shortly before he died, he joined the Better off out of the EU group in the House of Commons. Indeed, he attended its launch.

As for the dreadful Heath - thank you, Cassie, for your support on my observation (in my last posting to this thread) about the man who so disgracefully lied to the English/British people about the EEC/EU. Thank goodness Lady Thatcher got him out as Conservative leader.

It is my duty to say what I think and believe Britannist.

Edward Heath was a liar. I recall a series broadcast by the BBC called 'The Poisoned Chalice' in which he recounted how, as PPS to Eden, he was consulted by the then Cabinet Secretary about what to do with the British copy of the tri-partite agreement entered into with France and Israel which Eden denied in the Commons existed. In other words, he was party to Eden's lying, which made him a liar!

In a subsequent part of the documentary, Heath admitted that his government was not totally honest with the British electorate and did not explain that joining the EEC was embarking on a political union. Quite the reverse, he and Rippon went out of their way to deny it.

Once a liar, always a liar!

I commend to you the expose written by Booker & North entitled 'The Great Deception' which documents the history of the EU.

An interesting posting from you Cassie which I am copying and sending in the post tomorrow to a UKIP member I know who has no computer/internet connection (and doesn't want one) - I copy the postings I consider the best on this forum and post them to my UKIP friend regularly.

I read elsewhere some years ago that Heath allegedly admitted that he knew from the start that the EEC/EU was not just a trading area and that the intention was for it to become an EU Superstate with total power over the UK. Heath had hoped to remain Conservative leader (after his two deserved General Election defeats of 1974) with the intention of returning to power by the end of the 1970's to destroy our ancient Pound and force the UK in the euro by his entry target date of 1980.

Thank you for your recommendation of the book by Mr. Booker and Mr. North about the history of the EU. I have been aware of the history of the EEC/EU for many years and I have also recommended to others that they read it.

Ea of Dune is just starting out
Default Cabinet

I see the person who runs that blog has taken a few comments criticising his post, but has now gone on to comment on the "Scottish Raj" nickname for the Labour cabinet.
