Just wondering after seeing recent poster campaign for London mayoral elections whether Mr O'Connor would like me to move home to glasgow, as I seem to be a burden.
I just wonder whether also if you would be able to get away with an openly racist advertising campaign if it were Indians, Pakistanis or one of the other many many races who live in London fairly successfully and happily, you were insulting. I do however find it slightly quite insulting that I am referred to as a 'Jockstrap' in this ridiculous camapaign. It certainly looks like to me that The English Democrats are just the BNP in disguise..............you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!! David A PROUD LONDONER!!! PS: sounds like Mr O'Connor is from a celtic background which I would have thought he would be quite proud of..............evidently not!! |

As for whether they are racist I think that is a different question. I don't believe the EDP have a racist agender towards the Scots, I think the posters appear to be used as a shock tactic to get people talking about the issues of devolution and the very serious side effects it's having. As somebody else on here pointed out if they had just stuck out a leaflet saying "Vote Matt" then nobody would have taken any notice. To be honest I haven't even seen a UKIP leaflet yet? Anyway I'm pretty sure these posters aren't aimed at individual Scots, but at the establishment that is putting Scotland (and I do mean Scotland and not Scots, as those Scots resident in England also suffer) over England, instead of everyone on an equal footing. With regards to Matt's surname, I don't see what somebodies surname has to do with a campaign that is highlighting a democratic defecit that in some cases is leading to the deaths of people for want of decent medical drugs. Anyway that;s my take on it, I'm sure an EDP person will explain in detail ![]() Ea of dune |

I've got a irish surname from 1 paternal grandparent who hailed from Armagh. A fact I am neither proud, nor ashamed of. My surname doesn't hamper my English Nationalism.

"English Democrats - We want an English Parliament" We've played it "nice" for 4 years now, there is 65% support for an English Parliament yet no movement from the main political parties. If we (English) don't get a referendum on an English Parliament soon, you are going to get a lot more worse then a few posters ! It's when the English have their back's to the wall we begin to peak.

His behaviour is irrational. He wants to get nasty, yet doesn't want his Party to tell the Establishment, 'We want to end the Union, what are you going to do about it?'

65% support??
I would love to see this poll!! i contacted the English Democrats to put my argument across and to show how disgusted I was with the their choice of subject for their poster campaign. I was rather shocked at the reply given. I was told by them that they would look very forward to me going home (something I never even mentioned)....it was a rather childish reply and they offered no counter argument to my point. Listen guys I have no problems with you pushing forward for autonomy from Westminster, and is something I would respect no matter where I lived, but to use such insulting tactics towards Scots is pushing it a little bit and I find it abhorrent. Mr O'Connor seems to think that he has huge support in London but the truth of the matter is he doesnt really and this will be shown by his dismal performance in the up and coming London mayoral election. I am not normally this vocal and usually quite placid (live and let live etc) but for the first time in a long time something has got up my nose and I have stood up for myself. |

I consider myself English. I also do not take offence from the EDP campaign in London. People who live in England are being discriminated against by the UK Goverment FACT! Scotland can have life saving medication & England can not? Foundation hospitals & top-up fees were forced on England by scottish MPs , whilst Scotland will have neither? The average familiy COULD be as much as £7000 worse off every year than a family living in Scotland? Is this fair???? So please...all who deem the EDP as a rasist party....GROW UP & LOOK AT THE FACTS!!!!! |
