I do however find it slightly quite insulting that I am referred to as a 'Jockstrap' in this ridiculous camapaign.

It certainly looks like to me that The English Democrats are just the BNP in disguise..............you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!

A PROUD LONDONER!!!

PS: sounds like Mr O'Connor is from a celtic background which I would have thought he would be quite proud of..............evidently not!!
As a matter of interest, how do you regard yourself first and foremost? This is to ask whether you regard yourself first and foremost as English or Scottish or British or what?

I infer that you use the description 'A PROUD LONDONER' merely to indicate that you are living in London?

Thank you for the above link Kentishman.

I asked someone in a posting I made yesterday if they could provide a link to a report about the Telegraph November 2006 opinion poll on England and the Union of the UK. I was not doubting that the poll existed - I read of it in the Telegraph when they published their report (on the link above) about it.

I am grateful for you providing the above link Kentishman - I have noted down the opinion poll figures quoted in the article.

As I wrote yesterday (when I asked for the above link) at the end of 2007 The Telegraph published an opinion poll on the subject of Britishness during a week in which it had been covering the subject at length in view of Gordon Brown's promotion of Britishness. The opinion poll revealed that support in England for Britishness had gone up. A UKIP friend of mine who thinks that "the Union is dead" said of the opinion poll result figures in support of Britishness "I don't believe them."

Welcome to the forum, Sue1966.

Mr. Iain Dale, the former Conservative Parliamentary candidate who writes a well-known political blog, is English but partly Scottish and he supports calls for an English Parliament within the UK to be set up.

The UK Labour Government (which is desperate to stop an English Parliament being set up) is anti-English.
