How about putting your election on the Votewise.co.uk site! Don't know how many extra votes it will get you but it is FREE. You can also put a photo on, that may bring you in a few extra women's votes!!
If Richard Aitkins in Stevenage listed on there the FEP could claim 100% coverage on the site.

GOOD LUCK to both of you.

I see that your election is on Votewise. Did you or one of the other candidates put it on?

I saw a couple of posts on here about candidates on votewise.co.uk, and thought I would see if our local elections here in West Sussex were listed (I'm a candidate, so I thought I could add some details about myself).

Nothing listed, so I went to the 'volunteer' page to see if I could help out by listing the candidates in Worthing, Adur and Crawley, as I have all the candidate lists here, along with emails and contact details for most of them.

I got an email which began with this: 'Dear Votewise Volunteers. Our thanks goes out to all of you who have assisted us in loading up the May 1st elections. Sadly we have now reached the limit of our budget for this date and must now focus on getting those who are now listed on the site to take part.'

So at the first opportunity to demonstrate the potential value of their site, they fall down because they can't even get all the elections or candidates listed! Did they not plan for this when they set up the site? Or did they not realise there would be elections on 1/5/08? They don't even seemt o have the London Maoyral election listed...

All credibility gone, I'd say.

Thanks for taking a look at our site James.

There are thousands of elections being held across the country on 1st May. We are a young service and don't yet have the staff, capability or budget to list all of them. We post a secure, written invitation to every candidate that we list and do our best to encourage candidates, councils and constituents to take part in what is after all a FREE service.

We launched in September last year and this has been our position on the Spring Elections since then. We published details on the site under the link headed '1st May 2008'.

We've had an overwhelmingly positive response from everyone who has used the site, at all levels, which has been incredibly encouraging.

Since 'drawing the line' on May, we've had a number of kind messages from voters, candidates and councils asking if, despite our policy, we would mind posting their election. In every case we have obliged, published the election and posted invites the same day. Had you simply asked us to post it, we gladly would.

To be honest, your abusive email yesterday was plain rude and quite shocking, particularly in light of your community standing. To try and smear us in public (many of our volunteers who have worked day and night to help us also post here) is quite baffling. We aren't funded by government or anyone else for that matter; we decided to do this because we believe it needed to be done.

We currently focus on 'local' elections as we believe this is where there seems to be the greatest area of potential improvement in terms of 'getting the word out' and encouraging engagement / participation. For this reason, we are not covering the Mayoral elections, frankly, it's one campaign and they have the funds to do it themselves. See London Elects - The Mayoral candidates for details

Later in the year we shall be covering as many Youth Parliament elections as we can, on the same principle.

You suggest this is our 'first opportunity'?

Prior to the '08 spring elections we have invited over 400 candidates to take part (about 34% of them have), we've covered 136 election campaigns, facilitated over 7,000 pledges of support or objection and over 400 messages have travelled between candidates and constituents.

We wish you the best of luck in the forthcoming election and look forward to seeing what new innovations and services you will provide in your capacity as councillor.
