One of his flyers shows a robber wearing a tartan balaclava and has the slogan: "Save London from Labour's tartan taxes."

Another poster depicts a kilted Scot with scissors pointing at his private parts with the caption: "Chop Jock, Vote English."

I saw the documentary but the link I saw it from is down at the moment. Although I do not agree with this form of campaigning, they aren't exactly burning Scottish flags and screaming that they hate the English.

Not all English nationalists hold with these posters. You will find that almost every fair minded Englishman and woman think these posters are disgraceful. Yes, there are inequalities between the two nations on funding and voting rights, but these issues need to be tackled in the right way.

I find it hypocritical of the EDs to slag off the Scots in this way, yet want to retain a union with them. This kind of act will be remembered for years to come, and will make it difficult for the EDs to work in harmony with Scotland in the future. Shooting yourselves in the foot one might say. I bet the SNP see the funny side of these posters! They sent a representative to the EDs AGM last September, I would think they will decline any future overtures from the EDs over this, as will Plaid over the Monmouth debacle. It is a cheap publicity trick for the short term that will have long term repercussions.

At the end of the day, it is for the EDs to employ whatever strategy they wish. If they think the poster campaign is a good thing, that's their business, however, the decent among us might think otherwise.

By the same anti-English token, LEWIS and the Daily Mail are attempting to smear Matt O'Connor.

The fact is that Scotland and Scots benefit from the Barnett Formula which is based on Wales receiving a higher per capita Exchequer funding than England, and Scotland even more or, put the other way, Wales receiving less per capita than Scotland, and England even less.

How dare any English nationalist candidate dare to have a campaign in England's capital city based on double standards and discrimination in which Scots are disproportionately prominent? A campaign during an election ballot for a form of local government being imposed on England by denying the English as a nation parity of treatment!

Of course, it is simply too much to expect a Brit paper to actually engage in the real, underlying political situation!!!!!!!! It's much easier to name call, and calling someone a douchebag is part of that process.

What counts is what the electorate think of them, and they wll give their verdict on May 1st.

I for one do not agree with such a set up, I want Scottish independence and no handouts, but Westminister must feel itself a net-gainer to go along with this.
