Default Blackmail threat!

Politics is often a dirty business, but I thought it had reached a new low with the following email I received today. I advise the sender that email addresses can be traced and that the authorities might take a dim view of this threat.

Anyway, here is what I received:

"Hi you dont know me but if you are or was an English democrat you would not be slagging of matt o'conner i mean have you not been sacked from the XXX yet as they dont need trouble makers working there you un professional attitude is shocking i am going to send a copy of this e-mail and the artical from the paper to your boss if there is not an apology to this e-mail address or in the paper by friday i will send tis to your boss"

Having got that off my chest, I don't actually have much of a gripe against Matt O'Connor. He is new to English nationalism and elections and is presumably taking advice from the EDs on both of these. Nor have I ever met him. From the videos coped to this site, he has not hugely impressed me as a speaker. I also accept that the media (especially the BBC) are so prejudiced against the smaller parties and England generally, that he will have to fight to get any media attention.

My real dislike is occasioned by the posts made by two certain ED senior members. They know who they are.

Yep, Assuming you're being scrupulously honest with your posting, I'd be inclined to report the guy/gal to the police.

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2006...0060035_en.pdf

s2 makes good reading.

I think the guy/gal is threatening to break s2 in relation to you, assuming that he is going to spread untruths to try and get you the sack. You might want to take further legal advice as I am not a practising barrister and am only trying to point you in the right direction.

What is wrong with the English nationalist side of politics? Have you guys got a political death wish or something?

I think they must have, whilst they are fighting each other they don't seem to have noticed that the LT will destroy all their dreams before they will be in a position to act.

Are you sure this isn't a non-English nationalist group trying to brew up trouble? I'd report it to the police personally because if it is some tit trying to cause trouble then they will get what they deserve. Threatening your job like that as well is a particularly nasty act!

Thank you very much for that impressive reference. Section 2 does seem to fit the bill.

I am well known for my honesty (aka a blunt yorkshireman), and merely replaced my employer's name with the xxx.

I will ponder awhile, but despite what seems like good advice, I do not want to get the police involved at this stage. They have far more serious matters in London to deal with.

A part of me also remembers what it was like to be newly divorced, short of money, too distant from my children etc. Such unhappy circumstances are no fun and do not bring out the best in people.

Regards, Andrew

I'm inclined to agree with you, Ea of Dune.

I'm not sure of the logic behind it, but it seems to be from someone not overly endowed with 'zee leetle grey cells' who has taken a dislike to Andrew!

Handled appropriately, it might even help Andrew's campaign. You know the kind of thing - "Cyber threats made to English nationalist GLA candidate!"
