A claim was made by the English Democrats' Steve Uncles that their mayoral candidate had moved up to 17% in an opinion survey for the London mayoral race. A new poll issued by the well respected YouGov organisation shows that English Democrat candidate Matt O'Connor is currently on 1%.
http://i.thisislondon.co.uk/i/pix/20...ayorsurvey.pdf It shows that the campaign being run by the English Democrats appears to be coming off the rails. This raises several questions: 1. Is the candidate they have chosen not up to the job? 2. Is the campaign manager running the wrong type of campaign? 3. Are the voters dissatisfied with the English Democrats form of nationalism? 4. Is there still time for Matt's fortunes to be reversed by firing the campaign manager? 5. Would Steve Uncles himself made a much better candidate? 6. Should the whole top deck of the EDP finally resign if there is a debacle on May 1st? In my opinion, the English Democrats have run an awful campaign from what I can see. The Tartan posters will be the final nail in the coffin for their campaign. Can Messrs Uncles and Lane explain the disastrous drop from 17% to just 1%?

No, but then again, we didn't go around bragging about 17% scores in polls. I put this thread up merely as a set of facts and figures, and as I said, asking relevant questions. No one is obliged to provide answers, but I believe this is a subject that should be debated. Remember, members of Free England have been asked why they left the EDP and started a new party. Perhaps some of the answers provided may show why it was in our best interests to part company.

I don't believe the 17% or the 1% poll where conducted by the same people where they, or aimed at the same target audience? I'm dubious of polls in situations like this, they are a spin merchants dream. Ea of dune |

Richard i think this type of post will illustrate the un-balanced views you seem to hold.
How can someone who proclaims to be an English Nationalist think its great if Englands National Party polls badly...it seems you want to throw a party? Although we have no Sugar Daddy or money coming in from the EU we punch well above our weight at present due to the excellent dedication of the national team we have in place; to be standing in the London Mayoral elections is a great achievement for the English Democrats. This is a statement of intent that is already causing many more people to take note of the issues we are campaigning for. Of course we want a good result but we have to be realistic, what with the campaign not being launched until next week and the lack of real coverage outside of the 3 mainstream parties it is going to be difficult. One thing i do know is that with every campaign and with every knock back and challenge we are growing stronger Keep England in Your Hearts English Democrats...A Voice for England!

It's nothing to do with feeling overjoyed, it was a counter to the rather daft thread posted by your colleague. You surely cant have been pleased that he is setting your party up for a fall, and in the process open to ridicule. Nobody really wants that, I know I dont, but like ive been urging you for a while now, you really must reel him in, he is causing a lot of problems for your party. You will have noticed that a lot of the arguments on here and elsewhere are as a result of his erratic posting, and we retaliate. Silly I know, but like you, we defend our party's honour.
Let's face it, the thread about Matt reaching 17% was idiotic. It invites crticism, and gives Matt a lot to live up to. If the result on polling day is around 1% as the YouGov poll suggests, then it opens your party up to ridicule. Surely you dont want that?
