What he promotes, it seems.

I agree with you that the affiliation to his kind seems skewed. I think criticising some people's writing capabilities is cruel as some people have dyslexia and find writing very difficult. This doesn't mean they can't think. Others are not speaking in table talk tones, but in dialect. Good for them. I feel one should never discourage anyone from speaking to their own people about their own people. Or speaking out in general. I find that a bit odd

In his essay "The deculturalisation of the English", John Lovejoy points out that a component of English culture is English language. The Welsh, the Scots, the Irish and others are well aware of this and, despite having minority and moribind lingos, seek to preserve and to promote theirs. The French have their "L'Académie française".

However, we English allow any Tom, Dick or Mohamed to mangle our language! Simply because it is the common currency of communication between peoples and even amongst peoples (eg in China and India) is not sufficient reason to allow foreigners to distort what is acceptable usage here in England!

Worse, we have individuals who subscribe to this and other fora professing to be English, and yet write the most flawed English! No, I'm not referring to the odd typo or misspelling but to persistent and gross errors!

To cut to the chase (so to speak), with your standard of written English you should not presume to lecture others about what they should or should not do apropos English culture. It's akin to a tone deaf person giving singing lessons. Kindly remove the beam from your own eye!

That was unnecessary. If David likes classical music and consistently posts links to specifically English revivals of this then he is to be commended.

What worries me about this is tht three people attacked an article but show no signs of being able to write one themselves. Actually, they don't seem to understand what it is about. Why don't they tell us what the culture wars are?
You can handle the truth boasts that he has known about this for years. Well, what have you done about it?
This forum allows too many negative posters or secret reds to try to undermine people who are making an effort. UKIP threw it off for being too left-wing and trying to undermine the party.

No comment It is anarchist, liberal, libertine and very narrowly libertarian. It isn't conservative or patriotic or nationalist. The latter 3 are centre right contexts that one would associate with UKIP as a Conservative breakaway group. But the forum is no longer overtly UKIP. Attackers are from UKIP and the left. Good luck to anyone who tries to keep their integrity while posting here. Not an easy task. Equally difficult to restrain oneself from self defence as this is considered a vile deed and often punished by banning. If you reside within the inner circle of shining beings you can more or less do as you please, whack women, kick 16 year olds and shove the beliefs of the God Squad (courtesy of poster Cleopatra ) down everyone else's face with impunity.

I have considered starting one for people who have interesting things to say and share, but would anyone join it and support it? I don't like to complain on someone else's forum as they can make any rules they like. I would willingly start a free forum (I can't afford a paid for one) to gather in anyone who would like to debate and discuss all manner of things without the threat or stress of a good kicking every time they open their mouths.

Again, would anyone support it?

Thus far, you have been unable to cite any words of mine which as you claim 'attacks a positive suggestion' - as distinct from making other criticisms!

First, you need to identify the relevant suggestion, but you can't! Second, you need to specify the particular words I used to 'attack' it but, again, you can't!

Frith has gone off on one of her flights of fancy which avoids citing facts or authorities. You see, some of us regard English culture as being more than 19th & 20th classical music, but also art and literature; the last including the spoken word!

Part of English literature is the English language, our language plus 'Old Englisc' of course. Too many individuals here and elsewhere mangle the contemporary English language, and I pointed that out. I also cited a published work on the 'deculturisation' generally of the English.

What do I get in return? The unsubstantiated burblings of Ken who, as far as I know, may well be yet another closet Scot defending his pal David (the b*tch) Hamilton who lacks the bigness to admit his boob! (Heaven forbid that I should defend the indefensible and not own up to a genuine shortcoming when it is drawn to my attention.)

Now if you can't put up Kenny boy, do the obvious!

And then of course there are those of us who consider English culture to embrace every aspect of creative, scientific, technological and philosophical output since England first came into being. English culture embraces music, architecture, art (pictorial and three-dimensional, including film and other moving picture art), drama, literature and the artisan crafts. It embraces thought and action, belief and understanding, cooking, dancing, gardening, healing, musing, worshipping, fighting, inventing, comprehending and acknowledging the world's diversity - and it ranges all the way from the quark to the furthest star. It isn't unique in this breadth or nature, but it is particular and special in this context of "English".

David is not a "b*tch", I am not on a flight of fancy, Ken does not strike me as a "burbler" and it's time this bickering stopped.

If you really want 'the bickering' (as you call it) to stop, why don't you butt out instead of presuming answer for others and, in the process, confusing issues?

Once again you are attempting to censor opinions you do not like!

As I have told you before, by definition, you are not English and your presumption in attempting to instruct the English is something we have come to expect from the non-English. We have enough Scots doing that much nearer home!

I'm afraid I am English and I have never told anyone what to do. As for "instructing" people, that is something you have fantasised I do ever since you first decided to attack me. I do not "censor" anyone. I notice you are starting to use the same tactics on others you used, and annoyingly still use, on me.

I reiterate, David is not a b*tch. And you are extremely racist towards the Scots.

Default Cheap prejudice

Just cheap narrow-minded prejudice from the failure with the personality disorder. Do you know what a personality disorder is? You are so uneducated you did not even know what a thought crime was.
Aardvark banned someeone a couple of days ago but you get away with this racial prejudice! The double standards of the moderators.
What are the culture wars simpleton?
Put what up? Is that your idea of English usuage?

Imagine the Tibetans attacking their supporters outside the country. Never in a million years.
