There's a fair chance that extremists from faiths other than Hindu will insultingly daub the statue when they feel hacked off with the Hindi community in Leicester.

Far from being a united, cohesive city, Leicester is now a cluster of various, fairly self contained, fairly self-sufficient foreign communities. The question is: why haven't they integrated with the English community and, thereby, with each other? I would suggest that, by being as separate as practicable, it enables them to co-exist in proximity with each other whilst actually being intolerant of each other. In other countries, the strongest community would assert itself and subjugate the others. Perhaps it is only a matter of time before that happens here.

If civil unrest ensued, one would quickly see physical barriers being erected just as there were in Northern Ireland and are in the Middle East for almost identical reasons: different religions and religious practices. To think so many English clowns here still believe in 'multi-culturalism' - foreigners say they do because it enables them to justify non-integration, but they do not truly believe in it!

History suggests that 'multi-races' can co-exist in a mono culture, but not in a 'multi-cultural' society. Indeed, we may arrive at a 'mono-culture' but, if present indications are an accurate guide, it won't be ours and it will be far more oppressive.

I agree with you, Gandhi was a good man no matter whether we should have a statue of him or not.

That one newspaper article doesn't even really prove what you are saying. it says a few statements were "attributed" to him.The ANC and Nelson Mandela don't seem to agree.

Not saying it's true.

Just that you stated 'he didn't', without anything else. Thought I would be kind and let you in on the rumour.
