I very much agree!

I tried to inculcate the idea that English language is a component of English culture, but others seem to reject it! Perhaps they think English is too easy?

I'm reminded of all those very attractive young women one frequently sees on TV, who spend endless time and effort in making themselves look glamorous, and succeed, only to spoil the whole effect when they 'open their gobs'! I think that phrase captures the essence of what I mean.

We should be proud of our language and not permit others to come here and adulterate it with (for example) West Indian forms of pidgin english and the styles adopted by Asians to separate themselves from mainstream English society.

I was joking gently about the moderator's imposing a length requirement on posts.

You don't need to leave anything to the dear forum population to decide, I shall decide it for you/them: Frith is the bad, evil, stupid, rude, barbaric, unlettered boor who ruins a forum otherwise made in heaven for angels.

I should not have rushed in, obviously, as I am demonic and belong on another branch of the cabbalistic fire tree. My apologies. I'll fold up my purple wings and try and conceal my fangs and talons as I slink off, shall I?
