The problem is London is too big and has too many protests for a group of 300or whatever to make a stink.
If the groups where to aim for somewhere like Manchester and got 300 people surrounding the city hall (Manchester has a lot of Labour MP's for example) protesting then it might make the news.
If people where slightly crafty with their choice of banners and what they read you might even be able to get passing students and the public to join in.
Yes it's not outside of Parliament, but the government might start to take notice if the folks out in the shires start co-ordinated marches in city centres.

You can hold that opinion if you wish, though, if I'm not worth bothering with, why bother to post the above? And pray tell, who have I squabbled with here?

Yes you're right, but I think too many people have become apathetic these days. Take students for example. Students in the 60s and 70s wouldnt have stood for the Higher Education Act and would have protested vigorously against it, but hardly a wimper from today's lot.

Default Stick it too 'em

Which is where you should be aiming some of your drive towards then. Especially if you do this before the organised march date.
Get it into students minds and get them thinking about it, then when they see a march you might get a few who join in.
Get in touch with the local NUS and various societies and take them for a pint. If George Galloway and his creeps can get students down to Oxford to protest against Nick Griffin, I'm sure you can get student on board to protest against the government top up fee's.

Ironic isn't it that the left wing students, Trotskyites and assorted Communists who marched and attacked the police in the 60s, are now at the heart of the very Labour Party that has imposed this debt burden on students and turned the police into politically correct enforcing stormtroopers!

Firstly, Richard my post was too blunt and I apoliogise for that. You may well have good reasons for arguing with Kentishman but it creates a bad impression. Put those old disputes behind you and start off positive and optimistic.
Secondly, does anyone have pictures of the demo or at least some stats. To those of us miles away it seems as if nothing hashappened. Publicising these things as important event as it generates enthusiasm. Also try some lively, traditional English music at them. That generates enthusiasm and helps bind people together.

No irony intended on their part.
Just following the path laid by Comrade Ulyanov.
