Sadly, I predict that this will loose you many many vital votes, and doesn't tell us that you are wanting to change London at all from the lethal mixed up mish-mash multi-cutural hell hole it sadly has become today, which has culturally and ethnically cleansed the English from many parts of London.
This is excellent news, we have deliberately positioned ourselves, so that we will be "attacked" by the BNP.

Looks like the BNP have already fallen into the first "man trap"

What makes you think that what Matt regards as the "heritage, language, identity, cultures and traditions" to be shared are not English?

True other foreign "heritages, languages, identities, cultures and traditions" are permitted to flourish at the expense of those of the English by the unrepresentative PC minorities who hold sway over England, and London in particular, but it does not follow from those words that Matt or the EDP subscribes to the present situation.

You should also remember that Livingstone has done quite a number of things he never gave notice of doing prior to being elected.

Cheer up! Stop being so BNP gloomy!

Default Congratulations to the EDs for a good website

Not sure who put the site together, but I think it looks great and gets messages across clearly. I think it will rightly impress any ordinary voter who takes the trouble to look at it.

I liked the clear exposition of the ED's core message about being in favour of the Union. I copy the key wording below:

"Why do we need an English Party?

The fact is there is no political party putting the interests of England first. All three major parties are “unionist” in outlook. This means that they see themselves representing the interests of all three nations in the UK, irrespective of whether policies that support Wales and Scotland disadvantage England. England has over 55 million people, we need our own distinct voice, no unionist party will put England first – we will.

Are you against the Union and the United Kingdom?

Unlike the SNP and Plaid Cymru we are not seeking independence for England and we are not anti the Union. We are simply pro English. We would like to see a continuation of the Union of Great Britain, but with willing participants, and a new post devolutionary agreement. We would govern in the name of England, and would work with political parties in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the good and stability of the union.

Our model is for there to be a Parliament for Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England and for the existing House of Lords to be scrapped and replaced by representatives of all parts of the United Kingdom which would work to scrutinise policy across the Union and minimize differences to keep the Union stable. The current asymmetrical devolution is unstable and is likely to destroy the Union in the medium term – we would not want to see this happen."

For English patriots and nationalists who wish to see an end to the Union, there will be a new English Independence party...
Regards, Andrew

Smile English Democrats

Kentishman, you've got an excellent site here for the Mayor campaign. In fact, I think it's streets above your "national" one, but then that's my opinion!!

There is a difference between 'England' and 'English', just as there is between the 'EU' and 'European' and it is much more than the difference between parts of speech (ie noun and adjective). Differences become blurred by 'English' being both noun and adjective.

Mr O'Connor puts the question: ""Why do we need an English Party?" and immediately goes on to refer to 'England'! Indeed, there is nothing in his message that indicates he is aware that one is not the same as the other.

In my opinion, he has given the 'correct' answer. Unfortunately, it is in answer to the wrong question!!!!!

Yes - I suggested earlier in this thread that the English Democrats (ED) might make their London 2008 Mayoral Election site their main official national website after the May elections are over (i.e. the present ED national website could be shut with its contents transferred into the existing ED London Mayoral election website from May 2008 - or the design of the ED London Mayoral election website replace the current design of the national ED website).
