Default The problem with the next EU parliamentary election

Since the expansion of the EU five years ago, there are quite a large number of new migrant workers here, mostly from eastern Europe.

Any EU citizen who is resident in the United Kingdom is entitled to vote in the EU elections here. So as joining the EU has lead to their increased prosperity, somehow I can't see them wanting to vote for any anti-EU political parties.

Worrying.

The flip side is that many UK citizens resent them being here, and for once are blamming the EU. So they could, by voting for EU sceptic parties, do more than counter any upswing in votes for pro EU parties.

That being said, on current performance I find it hard to believe UKIP will maintain the 12 seats it won in the last EU elections.

Nice one son! Don't be so pessimistic Northumbrian.

Besides, anyone would think that MEPs had any real, independent power! The route from MEP to MP is one-way. Nick Clegg, Geoff Huhne, Anne McIntosh for starters are testimony to that.
